A healthy body starts in a healthy mouth

Tooth brushing, we all do it (in most cases) at least twice a day. It is indispensable for removing plaque, combating oral diseases, for having a nice fresh breath and beautiful white teeth. The right toothpaste and toothbrush are essential. Yet for many, this is far from self-evident. We easily spend money on the right hair mask, facial cream or body lotion. But our mouth? Our teeth? In general, less attention is paid to our teeth. Did you know, for example, that the thickness and composition of your toothpaste and the hardness of the bristles can make the difference between a healthy and unhealthy body? Especially in these times of COVID-19, you need to prevent damage to your mouth. A good condition of the gums is a blockage against the virus.

Oxygen is the big secret

Medical science has known for a long time: where there is oxygen, there are no bad bacteria. To keep your mouth and body healthy, daily optimal oral care is essential. Approximately half of the adult population suffers from inflamed gums, of which 10-15% are in serious condition. blue®m tackles these problems with products based on pure ingredients such as oxygen, organic honey, lactoferrin (an anti-inflammatory protein) and Xylitol.

Toothpaste without fluoride

The fluoride free toothpaste of blue®m has been specially developed by Peter Blijdorp. A progressive oral surgeon who had only one goal: to help his patients with as little pain as possible and with an ability to recover as quickly as possible after dental procedures.

He translated the technique of Medicine, the hyperbaric oxygen tank, into a line of oral care products.  The unique formula, which in addition to active oxygen also contains honey, xylitol and lactoferrin, ensures optimal oral care. The toothpaste without fluoride helps to keep teeth and gums healthy. This toothpaste is also excellent for the daily care of implants, precisely because it does not contain fluoride. The formula helps to keep teeth and gums healthy, is pH-neutral, free of abrasive ingredients and contributes to the maintenance of white teeth.

Toothpaste with fluoride

At the request of several dentists, blue®m has also developed a fluoride toothpaste. It fits within the philosophy of blue®m to offer a product that is as natural as possible. Therefore a fluoride variant was chosen that also occurs in nature, i.e. calcium fluoride, instead of the commonly used chemical variants sodium fluoride and tin fluoride. This toothpaste improves the condition of the gums, helps against cavities and bad breath.

Fluoride or not? A common question…

Do you need to use a toothpaste with or without fluoride? That’s a question blue®m regularly gets. Because blue®m wants to be as open and transparent as possible about fluoride and why they advise toothpaste without fluoride themselves,  the blue®m oral care expert gives her vision. You can read all about it via this link.

Proper thickness and structure are essential

Research* has shown that there is a relationship between the thickness and texture of the toothpaste and the effective removal of dental plaque. A toothbrush has been developed in such a way that the tips of the nylon bristles optimally remove the plaque. However, if the toothpaste is too thick, a damping will form on the nylon bristles, making the toothbrush less effective. The too thick toothpaste actually gets in the way. Brushing the teeth with blue®m toothpastes, however, is completely different than with other toothpastes. The unique, relatively liquid texture of these toothpastes sinks deep into the toothbrush, allowing the nylon bristles of the toothbrush to do their job better. Brushing gives a pleasant tingling sensation. The teeth feel very smooth, without the use of abrasives. This is also much better for the gums, because it benefits from a gentle and friendly daily brushing. The whitening side effect of the blue®m toothpastes is beautiful and ensures strikingly radiant teeth.

A soft toothbrush for daily use

Many people think that brushing teeth with a hard toothbrush is most effective. But nothing could be further from the truth, the softer, the better is the motto. The use of an ultra soft toothbrush is the best way to clean and care for the soft and hard tissues in the mouth, preventing damage and receding gums in the long run. Precisely in this time of Corona and pandemic, preventing damage to the mouth is of vital importance.

Damages in the mouth as an entrance gate for COVID-19*

“Viruses are many times smaller than bacteria and differ in construction and the way they spread. A virus cannot survive without a host and therefore uses our cells. Damage to the mouth can thus form an ‘entrance’ to COVID-19. The greater the damage, the higher the risk. In case of severe periodontitis, a wound of up to 4 square centimetres can occur. Gums in good condition form a blockage against the virus,” says Frank Post, owner of Kliniek Tandheelkunde Sneek. Enough reason for blue®m to bring a new ultra soft toothbrush to the market for daily use.
